Shanghai International Marathon 2009

JLJ staff in Shanghai office took part in the 2009 Shanghai International Marathon, on November 29th 2009, with again a blue sky weather.

First to complete the 4.5km health race (within JLJ) were Nell and Steven!! The rest of us did very well too, completing before 8.30 am.

JLJ partner Alessandro Duina and HR consultant Kimi Hao ran enthusiastically for the 21km half-marathon - Both they completed the 21km within 1.54 - WELL DONE GUYS!!! 

We all enjoyed the event and rounded the day up with a cozy, relaxing brunch on Nanjing Road.


2nd Tier and 3rd Tier Cities: Kunshan Trip

The JLJ Group together with the Benelux Chamber co-organized another one of its successful second tier city events –  this time a field trip to Kunshan, a city that is located about 50 km north west of Shanghai. The trip included a Kunshan city tour, an introduction to the Kunshan New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (KSND) and a visit to two factories, the world’s leading elevator and escalator company Kone and Vossloh, a leader in the rail infrastructure and technology market.


Beijing International Marathon 2009

JLJ partner Alessandro and our Beijing stuff successfully completed the 2009 Beijing International Marathon last weekend.

For Tina and Leegy, this was their first time participating in an international Marathon and both were able to finish 5km in 38 minutes.  It was the second time for Ian and he finished his 9km race in 55 minutes. Alessandro finished the half marathon (21km) in 2.05 hours and plans to finish the Hangzhou marathon under 2 hours. We are looking forward to running with you in Shanghai!

Due to increased demand for information on 2nd tier & 3rd tier cities by both chamber members as well as our clients, we have decided to run a workshop series on lower tier cities in China, as more and more companies are now considering entering or moving west to benefit from lower costs and the market potential.

Alessandro Duina, Partner at the JLJ Group, was asked to present at the 3 workshops in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch, initiated to help New Zealand companies understand the intricacies of setting up in China and how to position their company in response to this information. The event – a series of 1-day workshops – held in New Zealand’s main centers to inform high growth potential businesses about the complexities of the modes of entry, supply chain management, logistics and manufacturing environment in China.

 

Navigating China – Beyond the Great Wall follows previous successful events held throughout New Zealand to inform companies about the New Zealand China Trade Agreement and the basics about doing business in China, including the series of workshops on China’s HR challenges in November 2008, where JLJ Director, Tim Lamb was invited to present.

Morning Tears together with JLJ organized the first outdoor Charity event on April 25th at Zhongshan Park

Many people came to support children in need while having picnics, flying kites or playing with children on that sunny day. In the name of JLJ and Morning Tears, we would like to thank you all for your generous contributions - all clothes and school books have been sent to Henan where Morning Tears recently opened a center for children in need.
