Shanghai gears up for 2010 World Expo “Better City, Better Life”

Date 13 October 2009

For six months,  from May 1 to October 31, 2010, Shanghai will be home to the 2010 Expo “Better City, Better Life”  representing the common wish for a better and healthier living in future urban areas.

With more than US $45 billion planned to be spent to improve the city and to build an extravagant Expo, Shanghai will once again be showcased as a splendid, key economic powerhouse.

The over 5 square kilometer area at the core of the city is dedicated to exhibitions, forums and events  and  is expected to attract over 70 million visitors during that time.

The Expo is likely to have notable impact on doing business in Shanghai – approximately 270 factories were already relocated to clear a huge site along the Huangpu River.

There are now over 6 more months to go to transform Shanghai into a world-class city and global financial center, as it would like to be regarded by the outside world.
